Transportation and Public Works Legislative Report

The House Ag & Natural Resources committee heard HB 2902, fish habitat/barrier removal, which provides $50 million in funding for fish barrier removals for the remainder of the biennium.  The bill had several people testify in strong support. The good news is that legislature worked out issues on exempt wells last week and subsequently passed the 2017-19 capital budget.  The capital budget includes – for the first time – funding for the Fish Barrier Removal Board. DFW Civil Enforcement Bill Introduced

Representative Fitzgibbon introduced HB 2337 giving the Department of Fish & Wildlife (DFW) civil enforcement authority for hydraulic project related violations. DFW’s civil enforcement authority currently is limited to a fine of $100 per day. The bill authorizes increasing the civil penalty to $10,000 per violation for infractions below the ordinary high water line and retains the current $100 per
