LSC Meeting March 16, 2017

The Legislative Steering Committee met in Olympia last Thursday and was the centerpiece of the week for WSAC. A special thanks go out to the seven Legislators who sat down with the entire LSC: Representatives Sullivan, McBride and Gregerson, and Senators Fain, Pederson and Miloscia. We asked all of the Legislators where they stand on WSAC’s three Legislative priorities, and whether they will help us maintain shared revenues in the upcoming budget proposals. The dialogue was very productive.

Speaking of budgets, the State Economic and Revenue Forecast Council released its updated revenue projections on Thursday. State budget writers received around $250 million additional revenue for the current biennium, and $300 million for the next. This information enables Senate and House budget writers to put the finishing touches on their proposals. We expect to see the Senate proposal early next week with the House following the week after.
