SB 6015, Wrongful Death, passed the Senate and is very much still alive this session.  The Senate Bill is being heard this week in the House Judiciary Committee

As a reminder, the House version passed both the House policy and fiscal committees respectively and perhaps only failed to pass off the House Floor since the Senate version of the bill had already been acted on.

The bill would significantly expand tort liability associated with wrongful death claims. The Attorney General’s Office estimates a 20 percent increase in costs associated with these types of claims.

SB 6015 adds additional claimants and increases the potential for damages – altering the balance in current law between recovery and fairness after a tragedy. Clearly, WSAC opposes this bill. Please reach out to your legislators to voice your opposition.
