Wrongful Death Changes Expected to Cost Over $7.5M Annually

This week, a report commissioned by the Liability Reform Coalition was released.

The Milliman Group, a highly-respected independent public policy firm, determined that the proposed changes to wrongful death liability law will result in over $7.5 million per year in additional costs to local governments, and the expected number of lawsuits filed is estimated to expand by 10% per year for the foreseeable future.

Copies of the report are available upon request for those who would like to review the data.

The bill is out of the Senate, but please consider calling your House Representatives and letting them know that this legislation will result in a big ongoing hit to county budgets.
