National County Government Month

April is National County Government Month!

This April, we celebrate the critical role counties play in shaping our communities and making a positive impact. In Washington State, counties are leaders, bringing innovative solutions, building resilience, and being a voice for their constituents in Olympia. Our theme this year, “Voices of Impact,” highlights how important our county voices are in our state. Counties foster economic growth, ensure public safety, drive democracy, promote health, maintain our infrastructure, protect our environment, and well, too much more to list.

With this in mind, we want to take the month of April to highlight many of the outstanding things our counties do, whether it’s on their own or in partnership with others. It’s in that spirit of collaboration that we will highlight many of our affiliate groups and departments that we work so closely with! Stay tuned throughout the month for messages about these important voices that make an impact on our communities. Share them, send us your stories, and get ready for a box of SWAG to share with your fellow elected officials and staff!

Please help us recognize outstanding county government projects and the leadership and staff who engage in positive action to improve their local area. Learn More Here

A Message From Your WSAC President

April is National County Government Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the incredible work our counties do every day to serve and strengthen our communities. Across Washington State, county leaders and staff work tirelessly to meet the diverse needs of our residents, often going above and beyond to ensure essential services are delivered efficiently and effectively. I deeply respect and appreciate the dedication and innovation demonstrated by our counties, and I encourage all Washington State County Commissioners, County Councilmembers, County Councilors and County Executives to take this opportunity to celebrate the important work happening in their communities. Whether through community events, outreach, or highlighting local achievements, let’s take a moment this month to showcase and honor the vital role counties play in improving the lives of Washingtonians.
– Lincoln County Commissioner and WSAC President, Rob Coffman
